Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has sent invitations to diplomats from 34 countries for the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela to be held in Prayagraj. The fair will run from January 13 to February 26, 2025, and is being considered as one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. The occasion is expected to attract millions of devotees and international attention. The invited countries include Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Mauritius, Cambodia, South Korea, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, the US, the UK, Australia, Russia, France, Canada, and Germany.
The purpose of inviting diplomats is to project the grandeur and spirituality of the Maha Kumbh at the global level, as well as strengthen diplomatic relations between India and other countries. The Uttar Pradesh government has considered this Maha Kumbh as an important occasion to make the state a hub of tourism. The Uttar Pradesh government has made extensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of devotees during the event of Maha Kumbh. Over 60,000 policemen will be deployed, including CCTV surveillance, drone surveillance, and special quick response teams.
The Indian Railways will also operate 1,000 special trains during the Maha Kumbh, keeping in mind the massive rush of devotees. As part of the preparations for the event, bus services are being enhanced and the State Road Transport Corporation will run hundreds of additional buses to Prayagraj. The government has allocated a substantial budget to improve infrastructure for the devotees visiting during the Maha Kumbh, including ensuring better roads, sanitation, and availability of clean drinking water. Along with this, special provisions are also being made for the elderly, disabled, and women devotees, so that their participation is seamless and comfortable.
Mahakumbh 2025 will be a historic occasion, attracting attention not only domestically but also internationally. With the participation of diplomats from 34 countries, the event will be an occasion to celebrate India's cultural and religious diversity on a large scale.
