The honors were bestowed during the closing ceremony of the Urban Mobility India conference and exhibition, which reached its culmination on Sunday night. Furthermore, other cities were also distinguished for their outstanding contributions in distinct categories, including the Srinagar Smart City, acknowledged for possessing the Best Public Transport System, and Shillong, celebrated for its exemplary Public Involvement Record.
Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Mr. Manoj Joshi, took center stage during the valedictory session, shedding light on the pivotal role of smart cards as a convenient and efficient mode of payment for commuters. He emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to implement the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which holds the potential to significantly enhance the interoperability of various modes of urban transportation.
