The Kerala government is doubling down on its commitment to revitalize beach tourism, aiming to meet the current needs of travelers while improving hospitality standards. Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas, speaking at the unveiling of the renovated Samudra Kovalam beachside resort operated by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), emphasized the importance of embracing innovative approaches in the tourism industry.

During his speech, KTDC Chairman P K Sasi highlighted that in the third phase of renovations, 40 rooms were redesigned with modern aesthetics in mind. Minister Riyas noted that the upgraded resort, situated along the coast, is poised to elevate Kerala's reputation as a prime destination for weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

With destination weddings gaining popularity worldwide, Minister Riyas pointed out that Kerala offers picturesque venues for this niche market, with the government striving to provide top-notch facilities. Sasi announced plans to renovate an additional 24 rooms in the next phase of development for Samudra Kovalam, renowned as a beacon of Kerala's thriving beach tourism.

Nestled amidst coconut trees overlooking the Arabian Sea, Samudra Kovalam has long been synonymous with Kerala's successful beach tourism. The recent upgrades, funded with a budget of Rs 12.68 crore from the state government, have expanded the resort by adding 40 new rooms, transforming it into an ideal setting for upscale weddings and MICE tourism, according to a press release.
