Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala - In the aftermath of the shocking blasts that rocked Kochi just a day ago, an all-party meeting was convened by Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, today, October 30. The meeting took place within the confines of the Chief Minister's Conference Hall at the State Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.
Distinguished political leaders including PK Kunjalikutty from the IUML, VT Belram representing the Congress, PC Chacko of the NCP, Mathew T Thomas from the JDS, Monce Joseph of Kerala Congress, P Sudheer from the CPI, C Krishna Kumar of the BJP, and ministers K Rajan, Roshi Augustin, Antony Raju, A K Sasindran, Kadannapally Ramachandran, along with CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan and opposition leader V D Satheesan, were among the prominent attendees as the meeting commenced earlier today.
The incident that triggered this urgent gathering involved multiple explosions occurring during a prayer meeting held by Jehovah's Witnesses in the Kalamassery area of Kochi district at approximately 9:00 am on Sunday.
A man by the name of Dominic Martin has voluntarily surrendered himself at the Kodakara police station in Thrissur, alleging responsibility for a series of blasts that resulted in the tragic loss of three lives. Tragically, a 12-year-old girl succumbed to burn injuries earlier today, while four others remain in critical condition in local hospitals.
Authorities, however, have indicated that Martin's assertions are yet to be corroborated by the police. Preliminary findings suggest that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) may have been employed to orchestrate the explosions.
In light of these distressing events, Chief Minister Vijayan has taken swift action by announcing the establishment of a 20-member investigative team, charged with the task of unraveling the circumstances surrounding this unsettling incident.
