Uttarakhand: The registration of pilgrims for Kedarnath has been suspended until May 3, 2023, due to the ongoing snowfall and severe weather, the officials announced on Tuesday.

"Till tomorrow, May 3, pilgrim registration for Kedarnath has been suspended due to poor weather and snowfall in Kedarnath. The weather will be taken into consideration when making the registration decision, according to Mayur Dixit, the district magistrate for Rudraprayag.

The District Magistrate said, "At the passenger registration centre in Rishikesh, registrations are being made only for Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dham."

The Meteorological Department said on Monday that the high Himalayan regions would experience snow and rain over the ensuing two to three days. Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit said that an appeal has been made for pilgrims' safety when  they coming to visit Kedarnath Dham. 

The Uttarakhand government initially stopped accepting registration requests from pilgrims for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra on April 25, the day Kedarnath Dham's doors opened, due to heavy snowfall on the pilgrimage path and a Met Department warning of bad weather.

During the six months that the Kedarnath temple is open, visitors from all over the nation flock to one of the most respected temples in the nation dedicated to Lord Shiva.

One of the most well-known Hindu pilgrimages in India is the Chardham Yatra, which is held in Uttarakhand. Four holy places located in the Himalayas, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, are visited during this pilgrimage.
