New Delhi: The tenure of BJP chief JP Nadda has been extended until June this year, a decision initially announced in January by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and later approved by the party's national council on Sunday. In addition to the extension, JP Nadda has been granted the authority to autonomously make significant decisions, which will subsequently be subject to approval by the party's parliamentary board.
This decision was reached during the second day of the BJP's national council meeting in Delhi, where a multitude of party members and top leadership congregated to deliberate on the party's strategy and campaign themes for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. JP Nadda assumed the role of BJP's working president in 2019, following the transition of then-party chief Amit Shah to a Union minister. Nadda subsequently assumed the full-time position of party president in 2020.
Amit Shah, while announcing the extension of Nadda's tenure as BJP's national president in January, highlighted the party's achievements under Nadda's leadership, citing successes such as the highest strike rate in Bihar, victories in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and substantial gains in West Bengal and Gujarat.
Furthermore, during the national council meeting, Nadda expressed his unwavering confidence in the abilities of party workers and called upon all BJP members to strive for even greater success in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "I have full faith in the strengths and capabilities of our karyakartas. We must continue to strengthen our booths. Let us collectively channel our efforts towards surpassing 370 seats for the BJP and ensuring the NDA secures over 400 seats," Nadda emphasized.
