Lucknow: Police Commissioner Alok Singh has been dismissed from service on Tuesday (November 30) for releasing Inspector Chavez Khan and Havaldar Amrish Yadav, in-charge of the Special Operations Group (SOG) team in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with a large sum of money and a car in bribe from ATM thieves. It has also been ordered to look into their property. Khan was awarded the police honour on August 15 this year. It may be recalled that the gang members who had recently stolen money by cutting an ATM machine at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad were arrested by the police.
In the interrogation, the accused said that the men were arrested in August also but Chavez Khan had taken Rs 20 lakh and creta car and released them. Chavez had demanded Rs 50 lakh from the accused. The accused said they did not have that much money yet and then brought the SOG policemen to their homes to pay the money. There, Chavez Khan saw a new Creta car parked with no number. Khan then brought the accused with him by threatening them that the car had been purchased with fraudulent money. After the incident came to light, the Commissioner of Police handed over the investigation of the case to DCP (Crime) Abhishek in which the involvement of the two accused was found. Police have also scanned CCTV footage in the investigation.
Police had arrested Shahnawaz, Sagir, Mohammad Omar, Zameer Sheikh and Mehraj in connection with the ATM hack and withdrawal of money in Ghaziabad. After chavez khan's involvement came to light, the commissioner has dissolved the SOG team and the role of its members is also being thoroughly investigated. The team consisted of 11 policemen. All these policemen have been attached to the line. The property investigation of the accused has been handed over to Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Luv Kumar. Police commissioner Alok Singh said the property of the accused will be attached if disproportionate assets are found.
