The famous Tirupati temple has set a target of generating a total revenue of Rs 4,411 crore in the new financial year starting April 1. Millions of people visit this temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh every year. The temple is being run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust. Trust chairman YV Subba Reddy has said that the annual budget of the temple has been approved recently, but it was stopped due to the code of conduct imposed in the MLC elections.
Compared to the current financial year, the new year's revenue target is more than Rs 1,315 crore. This year the target was Rs 3,096, it has now increased. Reddy said there has been an increase in the number of pilgrims visiting the temple. Therefore, the revenue target has also been increased. After the Corona period, now the offerings received by the temple have increased. Before the Corona period, the temple used to receive donations of about Rs 1,200 crore a year, it has seen a big decline amid Corona. Along with this, there was also a decrease in the interest on virtual donations and deposits received by the temple.
"We were expecting a cash offering of Rs 900 crore this year, which could have gone up to Rs 1,588 crore as per the new estimate. In such a situation, we have set a target of Rs 1,591 crore in the new year.
Reports say that the temple's Kalyan Mandap is also targeted to earn Rs 129 crore through rent and hotel stay. Along with this, some construction work has also been decided by the temple administration. The temple administration says that 30 additional laddu counters are going to be prepared so that devotees can get prasad quickly. These will cost Rs 5.25 crore. An amount of Rs 4.70 crore is also going to be spent on the construction of Sri Venkataswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu.
