This depression is expected to further intensify, becoming a deep depression in the near future.

The IMD predicts that the system will move northwestward and is likely to make landfall near Khepupara, Bangladesh, later today. Following that, it will continue its course in a west-northwestward direction across Gangetic West Bengal within the next 24 hours.

It is approximately 200 km southeast of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and about 430 km east-southeast of Digha (West Bengal)."

It will then proceed northwestward, making landfall near Khepupara on the 1st of August. Subsequently, it will continue its west-northwestward movement across Gangetic West Bengal within the next 24 hours."

The forecast highlights the intensification of the depression into a deep depression over the northeast Bay of Bengal. The IMD's alert aims to keep the public informed and prepared for the potential impact of this weather system in the region.
