IIT Roorkee to Host GATE 2025: Important Dates and Details

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will host the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2025

Candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2025 if they meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate Students: Students who are in the third year or higher of their undergraduate degree program.
  • Graduates: Candidates who have completed a government-approved degree program in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities.

GATE 2025 Exam Format and Details

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Number of Test Papers: 30 (including full and subject-specific papers)
  • Exam Sections: General Aptitude (GA) and the subject chosen by the candidate
  • Types of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

Important Exam Guidelines

  • Number of Papers: Candidates can appear for a maximum of two test papers. Each candidate must submit only one application. If selecting a second paper, it must be included in the original application.
  • Multiple Applications: If more than one application is submitted, only one will be considered, and the remaining applications will be rejected without refund of the application fee.
  • Negative Marking:
    • MCQs: For each incorrect answer in MCQs worth one mark, one-third mark will be deducted; for each incorrect answer in MCQs worth two marks, two-thirds mark will be deducted.
    • MSQ and NAT: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, and no partial marks will be awarded for MSQs.

Language and Scoring

  • Language: The question papers will be in English.
  • Total Marks: Each GATE paper is worth 100 marks.
  • General Aptitude (GA): All papers include a general aptitude section worth 15 marks.
  • Specific Curriculum: The remaining 85 marks cover subject-specific content.
