Mau: A person living in Basarathpur Gram Sabha of Thana Kopaganj area in Mau district of UP is in the news not only in the area but also in the surrounding districts these days. According to the news, a person named Ram Pravesh has been living on a 100 feet camel palm tree for the last month. Whenever someone goes to convince him, he attacks them with bricks and stones kept on the tree and people run away. Ram Pravesh then descends slowly at some point, collects brick stones and then climbs back to the tree.  

Ram Pravesh's father Vishunram said that Ram Pravesh is forced to live on the tree due to his wife as his wife argues with him every day and assaults him. Ram Pravesh got so upset with his wife's behaviour that he has been living on the tree for a month. The family hangs food and water near the tree by tying it with a rope, which he pulls from above. Villagers say that he gets down from the tree at some time in the night and climbs back to the tree after defecating etc.

The people of the village are angry because of Ram Pravesh living on the tree. He says that living on the Ram Pravesh tree is affecting his privacy because that tree is in the middle of the village and the courtyard of everyone's house is visible from there. The villagers have also complained to the police about Ram Pravesh, but the police also failed to take Ram Pravesh down from the tree and made a video of him and left.
