Aligarh: The first spell of monsoon rains in UP's Aligarh district on Saturday opened the floodgates of the municipal corporation's smart city campaign and the nullah-drain and cleanliness drive. With just 45 minutes of rain, residential areas, roads and drains across the city were flooded with rainwater. In many areas, the passers-by and motorists had to face a lot of problems due to waterlogging and mud on the road. This appeared to be cursing the municipal arrangements.

At the same time, a couple of constables riding a scooty fell into the drain near Kishanpur Tiraha on Ramghat Road. Light rain started after the change of weather in the morning. After some time, it rained for about 45 minutes. The rain averted a serious accident in front of Baba Market on Kishanpur Tiraha on Ramghat Road. Sepoy Dayanand Singh, posted at Thana Bannadevi here, had come to see his wife in a scooty to see the doctor. The drain on the roadside was not visible due to waterlogging on the road due to rain.

Shortly after the accident, a woman and a young man also fell into the drain. Due to the rain, many two-wheelers were stopped due to sir and the drivers were seen pulling them. Let us tell you that from the rain, Charra Adda Bridge, Gurudwara Road, Station Road, Centre Point Chauraha, Samad Road, Maris Road, Civil Gate, Photo Mahal Chauraha, Control Room, Amir Nisha, Dodpur, Laxmi Bai Marg, Kela Nagar, Medical Road, Sir Syed Nagar, Jamalpur, Achal Road, Mamu Bhanja, Ramghat Road, Anupshahar Road, Shahjamal, Dehligate Road, Sarai Rahman, Rasalganj, Baradwari, Several major routes, including Raghuvirpuri, were waterlogged.
