Dehradun: Chardham, one of the holiest pilgrimage circuits in India, is witnessing a remarkable milestone this year as a record-breaking number of devotees embark on the spiritual journey. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the enthusiasm of pilgrims remains unwavering. According to data released by the Uttarakhand Police, the number of pilgrims visiting the Chardham shrines by October 16, 2023, has surpassed an impressive 5 million. Alongside this notable footfall, approximately 541,000 vehicles have made their way to the sacred sites. It's a season marked by unprecedented pilgrim participation.

Kedarnath Dham has welcomed around 1.7 million devotees, Badrinath around 1.59 million, Gangotri around 846,000, Yamunotri around 694,000, and Hemkund Sahib around 177,000 visitors since the commencement of the Chardham Yatra. Notably, it is customary to close the doors of Yamunotri Dham and Kedarnath Dham on the auspicious occasion of Bhaidooj. The closing date for Badrinath Dham will be determined on Dussehra, which falls on October 24th, Vijayadashami.
