Kochi: The film 'The Kerala Story', based on love jihad and religious conversion, is embroiled in controversies. There is a lot of controversy going on about this film. This film has been banned by West Bengal and some states have also made it tax free. Meanwhile, this matter has reached the Supreme Court. While filmmakers have petitioned against the ban, some have challenged the Kerala High Court's decision not to ban it. The Chief Justice's court has said to hear on May 15 the application challenging the High Court's decision.

Earlier on May 5, the Kerala High Court had made several important observations rejecting the demand for a ban. Justice N. Nagresh and Justice Sophie Thomas's court after watching the teaser and trailer of the film said that there is nothing against Islam or Muslims in it. The bench had said that it has been shown against the terrorist organization ISIS. The judges had said, 'What is against Islam? Nothing has been said against any religion in this. All the blame is on the Islamic State. In its order, the court had said, We have seen the trailer of this film. We did not see anything against any one religion in this. None of the petitioners have seen the film.' 

Not only this, the court further remarked that there are many films in which Hindu ascetics have been shown as smugglers or rapists. But such things were never said about those films. The film was released on 5th May and people are turning out in large numbers to watch it. Before the Kerala High Court, the Madras High Court had also refused to hear the petition seeking the ban. At the same time, the Supreme Court has said that it is not right to demand a ban on films. Let the market decide whether a film is right or not. Let us tell you that ever since the trailer of 'The Kerala Story' was released, the controversy has deepened. But despite the controversies, the film is doing well at the box office.
