Hemant Soren, the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), is set to return as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

On June 28, Soren was released from jail after nearly five months, following the high court's decision to grant him bail in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

The decision comes after a meeting of INDIA bloc legislators in Ranchi, convened by former Chief Minister Soren.

There were rumors of a leadership change in Jharkhand when several events involving the current CM, Champai Soren, were canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday. This included the cancellation of a ceremony to distribute appointment letters to 1,500 teachers.

Soren's Bail Details

Soren, 48, had petitioned for bail on May 27. He denied the land-grabbing charges, claiming that the money laundering case was a political move by the BJP-led Central government.

Last month, the High Court ordered his release from Birsa Munda Jail. Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31, shortly after resigning as chief minister.

The ED alleged that Soren acquired 8.5 acres of land fraudulently and recovered Rs 36 lakh in cash along with documents related to the investigation. The probe revealed a corrupt syndicate, including Revenue Sub-Inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad, involved in illegal property acquisitions.
