Happy Holi: Jim Corbett National Park to remain shut for tourists

Dehradun: Jim Corbett National Park staff members in Uttarakhand have decided not to celebrate Holi festival this year, the Admin said in a statement on Monday, adding that it will remain shut for tourists on Wednesday,  March 8, 2023.

In addition, the park administration has issued a high alert. Park staff members will celebrate Holi on March 10. The park administration has further issued a high warning. Holi will be celebrated on March 10 by park staff. 

Officials stated that the decision was also made in light of wildlife traffickers' attempts to conduct their illegal activity during Holi."All of the officers and staff at the Jim Corbett National Park in Ramnagar have also had their holidays cancelled. On March 10, the entire Corbett staff will celebrate Holi. The Corbett management made this choice in consideration of the park's security in light of the Holi celebration "Park Warden Amit Gwasakoti said.

The administration is conducting flag marches on the borders like Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Kalagarh, and Dhangarhi in the meantime to impede the wildlife traffickers' attempts at smuggling.

Teams from Special Task Force (STF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) squads are also on high alert in border regions. In addition to this, visitors to Corbett Park are also under investigation.

Drone cameras are being used to monitor the Corbett National Park's borders with Uttar Pradesh at the same time, according to Amit, who also stated that all areas of the park will be blocked off to tourism.
