New Delhi: The report of the fact-finding team on the April 16 violence on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in the Jahangir puri area of the national capital has come to light. This report has been created by the Group of Intellectuals and Academics (GIA). The group was established in 2015. GIA is a group of professional women, entrepreneurs, media persons and academics who are committed to social justice and nation-building. It is being told that the group has stayed in Jahangirpuri for the next three days of the violence and has ascertained the ground reality and the facts related to the violence.
He said in his report, "When we reached the spot, we got a lot of information that has not come out of everyone till date. We saw that illegal activity, demographic change and radicalisation are at their peak in the region. Public land has been illegally occupied. Constructions are being carried out illegally here. No effort is being made to control the encroachments. In its report, the GIA has raised concerns on five key points, including encroachment of public land, collection and sale of junk, illegal parking, illegal construction work and demographic change, increase in the number of madrasas.
The GIA has also shared a picture in its report, in which illegal parking is seen on the road of DC Block of Jahangirpuri. Here, the drivers are charged a lot more money for parking, due to which extortion and illegal occupation of government land have increased here. This area is not at all safe for ordinary citizens. It is being told that the number of madrasas in this area has increased in the last few years. He wrote in his report that it is a matter of investigation whether these madrasas are responsible for radicalising the women and children of the region. Footage of the riots that took place on April 16, 2022, showed a large number of children pelting stones at the police and Shobha Yatra in stone-pelting.
