Ghatkopar: On Saturday, a devastating fire broke out at the Ramabai Ambedkar Magasvargiya Housing Society, also known as Ramai Niwas, in Ghatkopar East, Mumbai. The blaze resulted in injuries to 13 people, while over 90 residents were safely evacuated.

The fire started in the residential building, leading to a rapid response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade. Firefighters quickly tackled the flames and successfully controlled the situation. During the emergency, more than 90 residents were safely rescued via the building’s staircase.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade reported, “More than 90 people were rescued safely. 13 individuals have sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized.”

The injured have been identified as Harsha Anil Bhise, Sweety Sandip Kadam, Janvi Milind Raigaonkar, Priyanka Kale, Jasim Salim Sayyad, Jyoti Milind Raigaonkar, Firoza Iqbal Shaikh, Laxmi Laxman Kadam, Laxman Rambhau Kadam, Mansi Shrivastava, Akshara Sachin Date, Abid Shah, and Amir Iqbal Khan. They are receiving medical treatment at the casualty ward of Dr Maitri at Rajawadi Mun Hospital.

Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and managed to control the blaze. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage.

Eighty to ninety individuals trapped on various floors were rescued via the staircase before the fire was put out at 2:05 a.m. Thirteen people experienced suffocation from the smoke; twelve were admitted to a local hospital, while one was treated and discharged from the outpatient department. Among the injured, nine are women. The official also noted that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
