JAIPUAR: Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, highlighted the significance of the automobile industry's expansion as a means to generate employment opportunities. He expressed his belief that with continuous efforts from the government, the automobile industry's turnover would increase from the current Rs. 7.50 lakh crore to Rs. 15 lakh crore in the near future.

Speaking at a rally in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district, organized by the ruling BJP to commemorate the completion of nine years of their governance at the Centre, Gadkari emphasized that the automobile industry contributes significantly to the government's revenue through goods and services tax (GST). He also stated that approximately 4.50 crore individuals are employed in this sector.

Gadkari asserted that with the government's support, the automobile industry has the potential to create 10 crore jobs. He proudly mentioned that India ranks third globally in the automobile industry, preceded only by China and the United States. He attributed this progress to the policies and programs implemented by the Narendra Modi government over the past nine years.

In another official event, Gadkari virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 11 National Highway projects worth Rs. 5,625 crore. Among these projects are four NH projects spanning a total length of 219 km and costing Rs. 3,775 crore. Additionally, a high-level bridge over the Chambal river in Mandrayal will enhance connectivity between Rajasthan's Karauli district and Madhya Pradesh's Sabalgarh.

During his speech, Gadkari directed his criticism towards the Congress party, accusing its leaders of using poverty alleviation programs to eliminate their own poverty. He highlighted that despite ruling the country for nearly 60 years with the slogan of "Gharibi Hatao" (remove poverty), the actions of Congress leaders fell short of their promises.

Gadkari reaffirmed that good governance remains the guiding principle of the Modi regime. He emphasized the government's commitment to prioritize farmers, including plans to introduce vehicles powered by ethanol produced by the farming community. He also expressed optimism that India's petroleum imports would gradually decrease, and the funds saved would be redirected to enhance farmers' prosperity.

The rally featured addresses by BJP State president C.P. Joshi, former Minister Srichand Kriplani, and other party leaders. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot presided over the official function through video conferencing from his residence in Jaipur, where he is recovering from injuries to both of his toes.

Gehlot urged the Union Minister to issue a gazette notification declaring 50 roads in the State as National Highways. He also requested the connection of the road between Jodhpur and Balotra's Pachpadra, where a 9-million-tonne refinery is being constructed, to the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway in order to facilitate smooth vehicular movement.
