Agartala: On Saturday, 7th September, the Tripura police detained four illegal immigrants from Bangladesh at the Dharmanagar railway station. The group, consisting of two men and two women, was intercepted by a patrol team after exhibiting suspicious behavior near the station road.

The individuals have been identified as Mohammed Hanif, Yusuf Ali, Parul Begum, and Jasmine Akhter. During questioning, they admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally crossed the border into India.

A case has been filed against the detainees. One of the immigrants revealed to the media that they were brought to Tripura by an agent named Rubel, who left them at the railway station before fleeing. The immigrants explained that they intended to board a train to Bengaluru on Saturday and cited political instability and lack of employment opportunities in Bangladesh as reasons for their decision to enter India illegally.

The immigrants, all residents of the Bagerhat district in Bangladesh’s Khulna Division, have been arrested and are now in court.
