Kochi: Renowned Former IAS officer and secretary to President Pratibha Patil, Dr. Christy Fernandez passed away at the age of 73. Dr. Fernandez, who previously served as secretary to President Pratibha Patil, breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi earlier today. At the time of his passing, he held the position of Chairman at Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Limited.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Fernandez held significant roles, including Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum, Principal Secretary for Urban Development in the Government of Gujarat, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, and Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. Additionally, he contested as the Left Democratic Front candidate from the Ernakulam constituency during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Family members have announced that Dr. Fernandez's body will be available for public viewing tomorrow at his residence in Potakuzhi, Kochi, and later in the evening, it will be transported to the family home in Klapana, Kollam. The funeral is scheduled to take place on December 6th at 11 am at St. George's Church, Clappana.
