New Delhi: The first arrest was made on Tuesday (September 27) in the Liquor Scam carried out by the Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi. The National Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Vijay Nair. Apart from Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Vijay Nair has also been named in the FIR registered by the CBI in the Liquor Scam. A total of 14 people have been named as accused in the FIR.

The CBI has stated in its FIR that Vijay Nair is the only person who is not a politician, bureaucrat or liquor businessman. However, Nair's active role has been pointed out by the CBI in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government's new liquor policy. According to media reports, Nair had served for AAP during the 2020 Delhi state assembly elections. During this time he helped organise AAP's events and manage its social media handles.

Vijay Nair is the former CEO of 'Only Much Louder'. Only Much Louder Company is an entertainment and event management company registered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His name has also cropped up in the liquor scam.

Actually, this whole matter started with Delhi's new liquor policy, which CM Kejriwal described as a very brilliant policy. But, the Delhi government was accused of committing a scam under the new liquor policy and LG ordered a CBI inquiry into it. As soon as the inquiry order was issued, the Kejriwal government panicked and announced to implement the old policy back. But he did not say why he has taken this U-turn. After this, when the CBI investigation started against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Kejriwal started making new allegations against the opposition party every day to divert attention from the allegations against him.
