Sriganganagar: A spark for canal water at Ghadsana in Sriganganagar has now been emitted. Thousands of farmers took about 150 police personnel, including DSP, hostage late on Saturday night. They were not allowed to come out even in the morning. A heavy police force has been deployed in Ghadsana amid tension. Unlike the ongoing farmer's movement on the Delhi-Haryana border, the Gehlot government in Rajasthan is the target of the farmers in this movement.
They are the farmers who are leaving the fields and demanding water for irrigation. The farmers fear that if they are not given water in a few days, thousands of acres of their crops will be destroyed. The long-running farmers' movement came to an end because no representative of the state government came for discussion. Now, more than 10,000 farmers have gathered here and this figure is continuously increasing. The farmers have also made arrangements for anchors as part of the long movement strategy.
At the same time, the farmers had warned several days ago that they would launch a violent agitation if the fields were on the verge of being destroyed. The farmers said that their announcement was a struggle for water. No one will be able to enter or out of the SDM office till the water is received. The hostages include DSP Jaydev Sihag and another senior police officer. The farmers have warned of intensifying the conflict on Sunday. The police were stopping the farmers heading towards the SDM office on Saturday. Then the farmers threw away the barricades.
