Guntur: Thirteen children were injured in an incident of electrocution during the Ugadi Utsavam celebrations in Chinna Tekur village, located in Kurnool district, as reported by the police. The mishap occurred on Thursday during the procession of the Prabha Chariot from the Anjaneya Swamy Temple.
According to reports, the chariot came into contact with electric wires, resulting in injuries to individuals in close proximity. Swift measures were taken to transport the injured children to Kurnool Hospital for necessary medical treatment, the police confirmed. Providing further information, Circle Inspector Kirankumar Reddy from Kurnool Rural Police Station stated that 13 children suffered injuries due to electrocution following the culmination of the Ugadi Utsav celebrations earlier that morning. Reddy assured that all injuries were reported to be below ten per cent severity, with no fatalities recorded.
MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy from Panyam and Telugu Desam Party candidate Byreddy Shabari from Nandyala visited the hospital to meet with the injured children and ensure they received appropriate medical attention. Doctors attending to the children have confirmed that there is no immediate threat to their lives.
