Jaipur was struck by a trio of consecutive earthquakes, all within a span of 16 minutes during the early hours of Friday. The city experienced a unique blend of astonishment and concern as the ground trembled thrice, leaving its residents perplexed and on edge.
The initial quake hit at precisely 4:09 am, registering a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale and originating from a depth of 10km. An eerie blast-like sound accompanied the seismic event, prompting people to evacuate their apartments, single-storey, and double-storey houses for safety.
Following the first quake, a second one occurred at 4:22 am, measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale and originating from a depth of 5km. Those who had missed the first tremor were rudely awakened from their slumber and found themselves rushing out of their homes, seeking refuge from the unexpected series of events.
The streets of Jaipur were soon filled with a multitude of people, especially in areas like Walled City, including Chandpole Bazaar, Badi Chaupar, and Johari Bazaar. Even residents of multi-storey apartments decided to descend to the ground floor, cautious of their building's stability.
But the surprises weren't over yet. At 4:25 am, a third earthquake shook the Pink City once again, eliciting both anxiety and resilience among its inhabitants. Concerned individuals immediately reached out to their loved ones to ensure their well-being, using social media as a platform to confirm their safety.
Within hospitals, caregivers and patients alike hurriedly vacated lobbies and other areas, prioritizing their security in the face of uncertainty. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or damages in and around Jaipur, according to the control room.
The tremors weren't confined to Jaipur alone, as neighboring districts like Sikar, Dausa, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, and Bharatpur also felt the effects of the seismic activity.
In times like these, communities come together, reaffirming the resilience of humanity in the face of nature's unpredictable force. Despite the initial shock, the people of Jaipur demonstrated unity and strength, proving that they can weather any storm that comes their way.
