New Delhi: In a recent announcement by the Education Minister of Delhi, Atishi, schools in the country's capital are set to observe an extended holiday period due to the prevailing winter conditions. However, a subsequent reversal of the decision has stirred controversy.according to new order, Delhi schools will remain closed till January 14.

Erroneous Extension Order:
Late last night, the Delhi Education Department posted on Twitter that the extension of winter vacations for schools up to class 5 was mistakenly ordered. The government promptly withdrew the directive, citing it as an error. This decision, initiated today, has brought about a swift resolution to the confusion.

Cold Wave Impact:
Delhi is currently in the grip of an intense cold wave, prompting the initial decision to extend school holidays. The cold weather, persisting across the country, led to the closure of most Delhi schools until Friday-Saturday. Despite the original plan to reopen on Monday, the severity of the winter conditions has necessitated a further extension of the holidays.

Weather Conditions:
On Saturday, Delhi experienced a severe cold day, with temperatures plummeting throughout the day. The Meteorological Department forecasts clear skies during the day on Sunday, with moderate morning fog. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 16 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is anticipated to be around 8 degrees Celsius. Mild fog is predicted for the rest of the week, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle on January 9.

Cold Extremes:
Mayur Vihar emerged as the coldest area in Delhi on Saturday, recording a maximum temperature of 13.8 degrees Celsius. In comparison, Jafarpur registered 14 degrees Celsius, and Narela, Palam, and Ridge areas recorded a maximum temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius.

In summary, the unexpected extension and subsequent retraction of school holidays in Delhi reflect the challenges posed by the ongoing winter conditions, impacting daily life and educational activities.
