New Delhi: In a recent development, the Delhi Police have apprehended three individuals, including a 29-year-old man named Waseem, his brother Fahim (32), and their associate Sahil (23), for orchestrating a scheme to falsely implicate their rival. In a bizarre turn of events, the main accused, Waseem, intentionally shot himself in the leg as part of the plan to frame his adversary, according to a police official.
The incident unfolded in the Kardampuri area, where a gunshot was reported. Following the shooting, Waseem was rushed to GTB Hospital by his brother, Fahim. Upon arriving at the hospital, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. However, despite his injuries, Waseem did not provide a statement to the authorities.
As a result, the police registered a case under sections 307/34 IPC (Indian Penal Code) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act. During the subsequent investigation, it came to light that the accused individuals were plotting to falsely implicate Bhura, who had been recently released from jail.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey explained, "We later questioned the victim's brother, Fahim, and it was revealed that they wanted to settle a score with Bhura by framing him in a false case. So, along with a friend, namely Sahil, they hatched a conspiracy and searched for a location that was out of the range of CCTV cameras."
Further investigation revealed that around 9 pm on Thursday, the three accused confronted Bhura. During the altercation, Fahim allegedly provided Waseem with a country-made pistol, which Waseem then used to shoot himself in the left leg deliberately. Afterward, he returned the weapon to Fahim. In the midst of the scuffle, Bhura managed to break free and escape the scene.
DCP Tirkey added, "Subsequently, they took the injured Waseem to GTB Hospital and made a PCR call en route. The country-made pistol, loaded with one empty cartridge, was recovered from the possession of accused Fahim."
