New Delhi: A Delhi court granted permission on Saturday for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP to take oath in Parliament on February 5 in connection with a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy. The special judge directed Tihar jail authorities to ensure the AAP leader's police custody transfer to Parliament by 10 AM on February 5. The Rajya Sabha MP, recently elected unopposed for a second term, had sought interim bail from February 4 to 10 to attend the ongoing parliament session and take the oath. However, the court allowed him to attend Parliament on February 5 but dismissed the plea for interim bail. The court also extended the judicial custody of the AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia until February 17.

Singh's counsel informed the court that the AAP leader has a hearing in a case filed against him in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on February 7. The court granted permission for Singh to attend Parliament on February 5 to take the oath as a member of Rajya Sabha. The court instructed Singh not to use mobile phones or engage with accused, witnesses, or the media during his visit to Parliament.

Singh and Sisodia, both AAP leaders, are facing charges related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Singh is confronted with money laundering charges in a case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), while Sisodia faces money laundering and corruption charges in cases registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and ED. The central investigative agencies allege irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy to benefit private liquor businessmen illegally.
