New Delhi: Unidentified assailants shot dead 42-year-old BJP leader Jitu Chaudhary in the Mayur Vihar area of the country's capital, Delhi, on Wednesday (April 20, 2022). The incident took place at around 8:15 p.m. According to the report, Chaudhary was near his house at the time of the incident. In the meantime, the bike-borne assailants came and hit them with 4 bullets. The first bullet hit the BJP leader directly in the head, while the other three bullets hit him in the stomach.
A police official said a case of murder has been registered. Eyewitnesses said they were shot dead by some unidentified assailants who came on a motorcycle outside the house in Mayur Vihar Phase-3. The attackers fled the scene after committing the crime. A huge crowd of people had gathered in Mayur Vihar Phase-3 after the incident. The patrolling police team saw the crowd and reached there. According to the police, Jitu Chaudhary was rushed to Noida metro hospital for immediate treatment. But the doctors declared him dead. Delhi (East) Police Commissioner Priyanka Kashyap has informed that the deceased Mayur Vihar was a worker of the BJP unit and used to do construction business. The DCP confirmed that a case of murder has been registered against unknown persons.
BJP leader Manoj Kumar said, "The way the murder was committed, it is sad.'' Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta also visited the hospital. However, police are searching for CCTV footage for the attackers.
