New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while campaigning for BJP candidates in Ahmedabad for the Lok Sabha elections, stated that talks between India and China are progressing smoothly in a positive environment, and India will never compromise on its sovereignty.
Singh emphasized that India has transformed into a formidable military power and aims to maintain cordial relations with its neighboring countries. Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations regarding Chinese aggression, Singh assured that discussions between India and China are ongoing smoothly and in a conducive atmosphere. While highlighting India's growing defence capabilities, Singh expressed confidence that India's defence exports, which surpassed ₹21,000 crore in the financial year 2023-24, will continue to rise.
He noted that India's defence exports, which were ₹600 crore in 2014, have seen significant growth. Singh reiterated the government's commitment to boosting domestic defence production, stating that various defence items, including missiles, weapons, bombs, and tanks, should be manufactured in India. Singh pointed out that India's defence production has exceeded ₹1 lakh crore, highlighting the government's focus on enhancing the country's self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
