Jaipur witnessed the grand reveal of the Congress party's manifesto for the impending Rajasthan assembly polls at the state party office. Promising significant reforms, the party unveiled a gamut of pledges, including a Rs 2 lakh interest-free loan provision for farmers, assured Minimum Support Price (MSP) aligned with the Swaminathan Commission report, and a novel recruitment initiative at the panchayat level. Among the commitments stood the decisive inclusion of a caste census in their 'Jan Ghoshna Patra'.
Present at the unveiling were key Congress figures, including Rajasthan's in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state party president Govind Singh Dotasra, manifesto committee chairman C P Joshi, and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot.
Addressing the launch event, Kharge emphasized the party's commitment to delivering on the promises made. "We make promises that we have the capability to honor," he stated firmly.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot highlighted the state's commendable financial management, expressing optimism about its trajectory. "The substantial increase of 46.48% in per capita income in Rajasthan is a testament to our efforts. We aspire to secure the top position in per capita income by 2030. In the fiscal year 2020–21, the state's GDP surged to 19.50, marking the highest in a decade," Gehlot remarked.
With an eye on retaining his position following the November 25 polls, CM Gehlot had previously unveiled seven "guarantees" for the state's populace under Congress's governance. These assurances encompass an annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 for women heads of families, subsidized LPG cylinders priced at Rs 500 for 1.05 crore families, procurement of dung from cattle rearers at Rs 2 per kg, enactment of an old pension scheme for government employees, provision of laptops or tablets to students enrolling in government colleges, offering insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakh per family for losses incurred due to natural disasters, and the introduction of school education in English medium.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already rolled out its electoral manifesto, concentrating on bolstering prospects for farmers, youth, and women.
The upcoming assembly elections for the 200-member Rajasthan Legislative Assembly are scheduled for a single-phase polling on November 25, with the ballot count set to take place on December 3.
