New Delhi: On the fifth day of the Parliament session, Congress MP Phool Devi Netam's health deteriorated in the Rajya Sabha amid a protest by the opposition over NEET exam irregularities. She fainted and was quickly taken to the hospital by ambulance. A video shows Phool Devi being carried out of the Parliament premises, with AAP MP Swati Maliwal seen accompanying her.
Phool Devi was transported to RML Hospital, where Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and fellow Congress MPs Rajni Patil, Swati Maliwal, and Imran Pratapgarhi assisted her. Phool Devi Netam, representing Kondagaon in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, has been a Rajya Sabha MP from Congress since September 14, 2020, and is also the President of Mahila Congress in Chhattisgarh.
Previously, the Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee found 12 opposition MPs, including Phool Devi, guilty of misconduct for disrupting House proceedings in August of the previous year. The panel warned these members, including AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Shaktisinh Gohil, Sushil Kumar Gupta, Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Syed Nasir Hussain, JB Mather Hisham, Ranjit Ranjan, and Imran Pratapgarhi, to refrain from such behavior and maintain exemplary conduct in the future. The report was presented in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
