New Delhi: Congress has announced the appointment of Gaurav Gogoi as the party’s Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha. A formal letter regarding this decision has been sent to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, informed Speaker Birla of the new appointments in a letter. The letter also included the appointments of the Chief Whip and two Whips for the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, as confirmed by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal on X.

In addition to Gogoi’s new role, eight-time MP from Kerala, Kodikunnil Suresh, has been designated as the Chief Whip. Manickam Tagore from Virudhunagar and Mohammad Jawed from Kishanganj have been appointed as Whips.

Previously, Rahul Gandhi was named as the Leader of Opposition, a position he has since assumed.

Venugopal highlighted that under the guidance of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the Congress and INDIA alliance will vigorously advocate for the people’s causes in the Lok Sabha.
