New Delhi: A court in the country's capital Delhi has sent Congress leader and former MLA Asif Mohammad Khan to judicial custody for 14 days while sentencing him. Police said that Congress leader Asif Khan was arrested on Saturday morning for abusing and assaulting a police officer in Shaheen Bagh area. Let us tell you that Asif Khan's daughter Ariba Khan is the Congress candidate in the Delhi Municipal elections to be held next month.
According to reports, former MLA Asif Khan was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Aditi Rao on Saturday, who sent him to judicial custody. At the same time, Khan's lawyer filed a bail application for his client in the court, which will be heard on Monday. An FIR was registered against Khan at the Shaheen Bagh police station under IPC sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of official duty) and 353 (using criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty).

Meanwhile, seeing the crowd of people in front of the mosque, a sub-inspector Akshay, who was patrolling the area, reached there and inquired about Asif Khan seeking permission from the Election Commission for the public meeting. The leader started abusing the police officer from the mike itself. When the sub-inspector protested, the Congress leader and his supporters also scuffled with the police. After this, the SI left from there and lodged an FIR against Congress leader Asif Khan at Shaheen Bagh police station, after which the police arrested him.
