Gwalior: In Gwalior, amidst the Trinamool Congress's decision to contest all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, the Congress has reiterated that doors remain open for a potential alliance with the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC for the upcoming general elections.

Addressing the media, Congress general secretary and communications in-charge, Jairam Ramesh, expressed optimism, stating that Mamata Banerjee's assertion of being in the INDIA alliance indicates a shared priority to defeat the BJP.

"We interpret her statement as a declaration of her intent and priority," he remarked in Gwalior. Highlighting ongoing negotiations, Ramesh emphasized that dialogue continues, and the possibility of collaboration remains, despite Mamata Banerjee's unilateral decision to contest all seats in West Bengal.

Discussing the upcoming joint opposition rally in Patna, Bihar, Ramesh underscored its significance in demonstrating opposition unity against the BJP and its allies, particularly following Prime Minister Modi's recent visit to the state. Rahul Gandhi, former Congress president and current MP from Wayanad, has temporarily paused his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' to participate in the rally, Ramesh revealed.

"Today marks the 50th day of the yatra. Rahul Gandhi has adjusted his schedule to attend the Patna rally, while continuing his engagements," he explained. Regarding speculation about Rahul Gandhi contesting from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, Ramesh indicated that the decision rests with Gandhi himself.

Shifting focus to the BJP's announcement of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, Ramesh declined to comment, emphasizing the Congress's focus on finalizing its own manifesto, candidates, and electoral strategy. "Our priority is our agenda, candidates, and seats across various states," he concluded.
