New Delhi: Following an FIR against Union Minister Pralhad Joshi's family, Congress workers staged a protest at Bengaluru's Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, demanding the minister's dismissal from the Union Cabinet and the arrest of his family members.
The protesters asserted, "Pralhad Joshi must resign. The FIR states that his family members requested ₹2 crores in exchange for a ticket. The BJP consistently criticizes Siddaramaiah and Congress, yet the FIR explicitly names Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. What message does this send to the nation? Why are they suddenly silent?"
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parmeshwara addressed the situation, stating, "Some of the accused have been arrested, and we are currently searching for Gopal Joshi. Once he is apprehended, we will have more information. Gopal Joshi is presently absconding. Once the investigation concludes, we will identify those involved."
Notably, Gopal Joshi, along with his sister Vijay Lakshmi Joshi and son Ajay Joshi, has been booked for allegedly promising a BJP ticket to Sunita Chauhan's husband, Devananda Pul Singh Chouhan, during the Lok Sabha elections by purportedly leveraging Prahlad Joshi's influence. Sunita Chauhan filed a complaint against the Joshi family at the Basaveshwar Nagar police station, leading to the FIR filed on Thursday afternoon.
