Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed district magistrates and police captains to launch a special verification drive across the state. After incidents like love jihad were reported in many parts of Uttarakhand, CM Dhami summoned senior officials of home and police on Friday.
He directed the officials to take details of the incidents so far and take strict action against such people. He said that this kind of crime will not be tolerated in Devbhoomi. Later, in a media interaction at the secretariat this afternoon, Dhami said that people are now coming forward against those who were promoting love jihad with such a well-planned and well-thought-out strategy. Those who have been victims of such conspiracies have also started to resist themselves. He said that these incidents have come to light within two-three months, behind which the conversion law brought by the government is there. After this law, there has been rapid awareness among the people, statistics are also telling this.
The administration and the police will jointly conduct a verification campaign to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. After all, who are these people? Where they came from and what has been their history, all this can be known after verification. On the basis of this, it will be decided whether such people will be able to live in Uttarakhand or not. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "All people in Uttarakhand live in brotherhood. They live in harmony with each other, but that doesn't mean doing such activities. It will never be accepted."
