According to the November 2021 order, after the death of the pensioner, the pension is not to be paid to his nominee under any circumstances.

The remaining amount of the next months will go back to the Social Welfare Department. About seven and a half lakh people in Uttarakhand are given the benefit of old age, widow, farmer, and disabled pension by the Social Welfare Department. Old age, widow, and disabled pensioners are given a pension of Rs 1,400 per month by the department for maintenance. Many of these pensioners are those who allow the pension amount to be deposited in the bank and post office account for a long time so that it can be used later if there is a large amount.

However, in the event of the death of the pensioner, people sometimes withdraw this amount from the account. Now people are having trouble in this process. People say that they are not getting the remaining amount from the bank. The department's new rule is being cited behind this. It is being told that the remaining amount of the pension has been returned to the department on the death of the pensioner. According to the news received from the Directorate of Social Welfare, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary on November 22, 2021. In this, three important decisions were taken regarding pension. The order was also issued on November 23. The order clearly stated that "on the death of the pension beneficiary, the amount of pension shall not be paid to his nominee under any circumstances.". Social Welfare Director BL Firmal confirmed the order.
