Agartala: The Modi government at the Centre on Tuesday issued a notification appointing Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has given information about this on Tuesday (April 11) through his official Twitter handle. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was earlier a judge of the Jharkhand High Court.
In a tweet, Rijiju wrote, 'According to the relevant provisions of the Constitution of India, the President of India has appointed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the Jharkhand High Court as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.' The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended on February 7 the appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court after the retirement of Justice Jaswant Singh. Given that Justice Jaswant Singh was due to retire on February 22, the collegium had already decided to recommend the appointment of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.
Let us tell you that many people in the family of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh have been associated with the judiciary. His great-grandfather, Justice Bhubaneswar Prasad Sinha, became the sixth Chief Justice of India. Nana Justice Shambhu Prasad Singh has been the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. On the other hand, his maternal uncle, Justice Vishweshwar Prasad Singh, has been a judge of the Supreme Court, as has his other uncle, Justice Shiv Kirti Singh, of the Patna High Court.
