Goa: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday seized Rs 15 lakh from the premises of a social security officer of the Employees State Insurance Corporation in a disproportionate assets case. FDRs worth Rs 14 lakh, investments made in the properties by the accused and their family members and objectionable documents have also been found. According to information, searches were carried out at the premises of a Social Security Officer of ESIC in Goa on a disproportionate assets case.
A seizure of Rs 15 lakh has been made during this period. A CBI spokesperson in the case said, "The agency searched the premises of Social Security Officer ESIC Hanif Sheikh posted in Panaji, Goa." Simultaneously, the Central Bureau of Investigation has said that cash recovery of Rs.15.23 lakh was made in Sheikh's office and residential premises in Panaji and Madgaon.

Now CBI is taking further action in this entire case. This is not the first such case, but many similar cases have come before it. Such raids have been conducted in many states. Sheikh was currently accused in the case that he acquired property during the period January 1, 2005 to February 15, 2021, in his own name and in the names of his family members, in addition to his known sources of income.
