Jodhpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a manager of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Jodhpur for alleged bribery. While giving the information on Thursday, the manager said that the manager allegedly in return for allowing the private firm responsible for clearing bills and maintaining a public sector undertaking (PSU) solar plant to function smoothly had taken a bribe of lakh rupees.

Officials said that it was alleged that when manager Om Prakash was arrested, he was taking the first part of the total bribe of Rs 3.5 lakh received from the private firm. The agency has also taken action on the manager's residence in Bhilwara and in Jaipur. NTPC Limited has entrusted the responsibility of solar plant to a private sector energy company at NTPC Energy Generation Center located in Jodhpur.

Investigating agency officials said that Om Prakash, who was responsible for taking care of the work of the plant, had allegedly asked for Rs 3.5 lakh to approve the pending bills of the firm. Prakash then allowed the firm to function smoothly. Officials said that after a complaint received from the owner of the firm, the CBI laid a trap and arrested Om Prakash red-handed taking a bribe.
