Hira Daspa of Munsiyari won the gold medal in javelin throw while Abhinav Pangti, a resident of Didihat, won bronze in badminton and silver in javelin throw in the World Transplant Games held in Perth from April 15 to 21. Talking to the media, 39-year-old Heera told that in 2012, her health suddenly deteriorated. Kidney failure was found on examination. In the year 2013, his sister Asha donated her kidney to him. At the same time, 33-year-old Abhinav told that he had kidney problem 5 years ago.
His elder sister Deeksha Dharmshaktu, a teacher in a government school in Dehradun, donated her kidney to him. Kidney transplant of both took place in a hospital in Mohali (Punjab). The World Transplant Games (WTG) is an international multi-sports event organized every two years by the World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF). Organ transplant recipients, living donors, etc. participate in it. These games started in 1978 in England. Then 100 athletes took part in it. Competitors from more than 60 countries participated in this year's Perth.
