BREAKING NEWS.....In a tragic incident near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express was struck from behind by a goods train, resulting in several passengers being injured. The collision occurred in the Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her shock over the incident in a post on social media platform X. She stated, "Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident in the Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train. DM, SP, doctors, ambulances, and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue, recovery, and medical assistance. Action on war-footing initiated."
Efforts are currently underway to transfer the injured passengers to nearby hospitals for treatment. Senior officials are at the scene to manage the rescue operations and ensure that the injured receive prompt medical care.
