VIZAG: 3 persons, including 2 children were killed and six people were injured after a 3-storey building collapsed in Ramajogi Peta near the Collectorate in Vizag (Visakhapatnam) in the early hours.
Saketi Anjali, a 15-year-old girl, was trapped under the building's rubble and died on the spot. Two bodies were found among the wreckage. The bodies were taken to King George Hospital.
Prima-facie evidence shows that the neighbour had dug up the adjacent land for the foundation, due to which this house's foundation got weak. A case has been filed, and an investigation is ongoing ", it said.
"There are nine persons inside the building, as perthe information that was received. Six of them were transferred to KGH Hospital for treatment, and three of them died "said the police commissioner.
The locals said that the incident took place around 2 am and the building was more than twenty years old. The GVMC officials are probing the reason for the collapse. Minutes after the incident, the locals managed to rescue five persons but their efforts to save the three others proved futile.
Earlier today a 3-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Rohini, police said. Officials said they received a fire call about a house collapse around 1:45 am on Thursday. A rescue operation is underway, police said.
