New Delhi: Theman from whom a visually impaired woman sought help to cross the road near Sitapuri bus stand in Dwarka, the capital of Delhi, on May 25, committed a heinous act of rape. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shankar Chaudhary has given information in this regard on Thursday. Chaudhary said the woman was supposed to get off at Vikaspuri by bus, but got off at Sitapuri stand by mistake.
"When she asked the locals to help them cross the road, the accused took her to a deserted street and raped her there. After the incident, the woman somehow caught a bus going to Vikaspuri and reached her home. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said they have registered a case in the matter after receiving a report from the hospital where the woman was treated.
He said that on the basis of technical evidence, the accused has been arrested and sent to jail in judicial custody and further action is on. Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal met the victim at her office and assured her of all possible help.
