VISAKHAPATNAM: Police reported on Thursday that a blast at the Hetero Drugs facility in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam district injured five workers.
Two of the injured are in critical condition and have been admitted to a hospital in Visakhapatnam. On Wednesday night, the incident occurred at the pharmacy company's factory in Nakkapallion.
The blast happened at a reactor, and the personnel there were harmed when the detonation sparked a fire that spread throughout the facility. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze. Following the event, the plant's operations were halted by the management. Three of the injured were taken to a local hospital, while the other two were flown to Visakhapatnam and are in critical condition. Meanwhile, CITU representatives asked the company management provide workers with information and compensate injured workers' families.
In 2016, an explosion was occurred in the unit, killing one person and injuring two others.
