Mumbai: Navneet Rana, previously elected as an independent MP from Amravati in 2019, officially submitted her nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to the media, Rana voiced optimism about receiving backing from the constituency, emphasizing the opportunity for voters to contribute to nation-building, development, and the nation's welfare.

Having joined the BJP recently in Nagpur under the presence of BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Rana reflected on her past victory in Amravati as an independent candidate. She credited the support from the people of Amravati in the previous elections despite significant political shifts and her limited work in the constituency. Rana's entry into politics occurred after her marriage to BJP politician Ravi Rana. Initially contesting in the 2014 elections from Amravati on the NCP platform, she faced defeat in her debut electoral endeavor.

Maharashtra, with 48 Lok Sabha seats, holds substantial electoral significance and influences national politics. The state will conduct elections across its constituencies in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. In the previous 2019 elections, BJP secured victory in 23 out of the 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena clinched 18 out of 23 contested seats. In 2014, BJP and Shiv Sena won 23 and 18 seats respectively, while the undivided NCP and Congress secured 4 and 2 seats each.
