New Delhi: With just five days remaining until the commencement of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its poll manifesto on Sunday under the banner of "Modi ki Guarantee," outlining a vision for further development, women's welfare, and the trajectory towards a "Viksit Bharat" (developed India). Notably, the BJP has designated the year 2025 as the 'Janjatiya Gaurav Year'.

The BJP's election manifesto pledges to implement 'One Nation One Election' and advocate for a "single electoral roll". Additionally, it focuses on empowering more Lakhpati Didis and promises to eliminate electricity bills through the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Among its key promises, the manifesto highlights India's bid for the Olympics in 2036, the implementation of the National Education Policy, and legislation against paper leaks. It also sets ambitious goals for India, aiming to become the third-largest economy globally and establish itself as a "global manufacturing hub".

The manifesto launch event witnessed the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and party President JP Nadda.

Addressing the gathering, JP Nadda attributed the government's achievements over the past decade, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the enactment of the women's reservation law, to the clear mandate bestowed upon the party by the people.

He emphasized, "The achievements of the last 10 years are a result of a clear mandate," underscoring the significance of public support.

The BJP's manifesto committee, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, convened twice to deliberate on its contents following extensive engagements, including nationwide campaigns, to solicit public feedback before the release of the 'Sankalp Patra'.

The BJP received over 1.5 million suggestions for its manifesto, including more than 400,000 through the NaMo app and over 1.1 million through videos.

The Lok Sabha elections in India are scheduled to occur from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to elect the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. The elections will span seven phases, with the results slated to be announced on June 4.

Approximately 970 million individuals, out of a total population of 1.44 billion, are eligible to participate in the elections. Concurrently, legislative assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will coincide with the general election, alongside by-elections for 35 seats across 16 states.
