Ujjain: Mahakal temple area along with Ujjain city will also be completely closed in protest against the removal of Hanuman idol etc. and demolition of the temple, including the ancient Sati Mata, in the name of construction and expansion by the administration outside Baba Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The decision was taken by traders and residents of the area at a meeting on Sunday.
The residents have informed that an important meeting was convened by Shri Mahakaleshwar Residents and Traders' Association to discuss the protest against the upcoming acquisition, in which it has been decided that the traders and residents of the area, vishwa hindu parishad and bajrang dal, outside the mahakal temple, the very ancient Sati Mata temple, In support of the Ujjain bandh call given on February 10 in protest against the removal and demolition of several houses, shops, including the Virbhadra Gymnasium, Rudra Hanuman Temple, the trade and business in the area will be completely closed.
He further informed that this demolition is being done in the name of the expansion plan being done by the administration in the temple area. He further said that now even the idols of temples and gods and goddesses are not being left where they are leaving. There is a deep resentment among the people of the area, including the temple area, for this action.
