New Delhi:  Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, received a 40-minute consultation from doctors at AIIMS Delhi while in Tihar Jail via video conferencing on Saturday. The consultation aimed to address concerns about his health, with doctors reassuring him that there were no serious health issues and advising him to continue with his prescribed medicines, according to a source.

The video conference was organized by the Tihar Jail administration at the request of Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal. During the consultation, the doctors reviewed Kejriwal's complete record of the Glucose Monitoring Sensor, as well as details of his diet and medications.

However, the issue of insulin was neither raised by Kejriwal nor suggested by the doctors during the video consultation, according to a source from Tihar Jail.

This development comes amidst a controversy over Kejriwal's health in judicial custody. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had alleged that Kejriwal was being denied insulin and pushed towards a "slow death." Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the prison authorities for contradicting their earlier stance of having all facilities to handle a diabetic inmate.

Bharadwaj later took to Twitter to escalate his criticism of the prison authorities, sharing a letter from the director general of Tihar Jail to AIIMS. The letter requested the appointment of a diabetologist for Arvind Kejriwal.

AAP sources claimed that Tihar Jail authorities had admitted to not having Kejriwal checked by a specialist for 20 days and were "deliberately putting" his life in danger. They questioned why a person with a blood sugar level of 300 was not given insulin.

Responding to these allegations, the Tihar Jail administration submitted a report to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, stating that Kejriwal's health had been reviewed on April 10 and April 15 by a medicine specialist. The report clarified that it was incorrect to state that Kejriwal was denied insulin at any point during his treatment.

Recently, there has been an exchange between the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the AAP over Kejriwal's health. The probe agency alleged that Kejriwal was consuming mangoes, aloo puri, and sweets daily despite having Type-2 Diabetes to raise his blood sugar level and create grounds for a medical bail.

Kejriwal's lawyer countered these allegations, stating that he had only had mangoes thrice in jail and consumed aloo puri as Navratra prasad. These statements were made during a hearing at Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Friday on a plea to allow the Chief Minister to receive his insulin shots.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy case. He is scheduled to remain in jail until April 23, when the next hearing will take place.
